The Friends of St. Mary's

Who Are We? What Do We Do?

The Friends of St Mary’s were formed in 1985. We run social events to raise funds to support the work of St Mary’s. Some of the events in recent years have include fish and chip suppers, sponsored walks, garden parties, concerts, quizzes, and wine tastings.

The Friends also provide the refreshments at special services at St Mary’s such as the Bereavement Service, the Civic Service and the Service of Nine Lessons and Carols.

Money raised by the Friends has been used recently to purchase a new portable lectern. We have donated to the church’s Audio/Visual project, and also to the fund to purchase new chairs.

Membership is open to all and there are many ways to contribute to the work of St Mary’s. However, most people make an annual donation* towards our work and a suggested sum is £10 a year. Payments can be made by cheque (made payable to ‘The Friends of St Mary’s’), bank transfer or by standing order.
