Heavenly Lord,

  • WINE TASTING, FRIDAY 22nd NOVEMBER. The Friends of St Mary’s are hosting a wine tasting (with bread & cheese), 7.00 pm for 7.30 pm. £12 a ticket. Tickets available from David, Elaine or Ray.

    ST MARY’S CHURCH: MEN’S BREAKFAST, Saturday 23rd November 8:30 am. Men of St Mary’s, Great Dunmow, you and any friends are invited to the next Men’s Breakfast on Saturday 23rd November 2019 at 8:30 am, in St Mary’s Room, Dunmow.
    We will be serving a full English breakfast (vegetarian option available). There will be a guest speaker for your entertainment, amusement and edification. Contribution at the breakfast appreciated to cover cost of the food around £3. Please let us know of any dietary requirements.     ADVENT COURSES. This year during Advent we will be running a weekly Advent Course and will be using Matthew’s gospel. The same course will run on Thursday mornings and Saturday mornings. Below are details of the bible verses we will use, you may want to spend some time with them before the session. For those who wish to read further, Tom Wright’s Advent for Everyone – A Journey through Matthew is recommended.

    BOOKS BOOKS BOOKS! If you are thinking of having a clear out of your book shelves at home, please consider hanging onto them for a while. We will be holding a Grand Book-sale in church on Saturday 30th November from 10 am - 4 pm. Donations of any type of book are most welcome. We will be glad to take CDs or DVDs as well, but no cassettes please. Refreshments will be available and proceeds will go to the Chair Fund. If you have any questions please talk to Jenny Salisbury.

    CELEBRATION. On Sunday 1 December, our 10.30 am service will be led by Revd. Peter Street. Peter will be celebrating 60 years in Ministry and Gerald Crowley will be celebrating 60 years as a Lay Reader. Please join them for a toast after the service.

    STAR WREATH MAKING WORKSHOP. This year our Live Nativity has its theme “Follow the star – Home”. We are hoping to encourage people to put stars on their doors and send us photos. On Wednesday 4th December, Barbara Caton will be holding a workshop to help us make wreaths for our doors. Numbers are limited, so please book your space in advance through Sarah our administrator.
    Wednesday 4th December 2pm-4pm in SMC. £10 per head, includes all materials, coffee / mulled wine and mince pies.

    MULLED WINE NEEDED. We are rapidly approaching our Live Nativity on 8th December and we would really appreciate any donations of mulled wine please. Unlike previous years we are going to use prepared mulled wine rather than mulling it ourselves - usually about £3.50 a bottle in Tesco/Co-op. Please leave all donations in the vestry or with Sarah in St Mary's Centre. Thank you.

    ST. MARY'S CHURCH NURSERY is seeking a new treasurer. This is a voluntary role requiring simple accrual accounts with a termly meeting (4 per annum). No formal qualifications are required however this opportunity offers scope to obtain such experience. For further information please contact Belinda Booth (smcn2dunmow@aol.com).

    CONNECT 120. This week Connect 120 means:  assembly at Gt Dunmow Primary, knitting at Magna Carta, assembly at St Mary's Stansted, cooking at Roseacres, assembly at Magna Carta, Reflection Space Day at Gt Dunmow Primary.

    CONNECT 120 AGM will be held at 4 pm on Monday 25 November at Roseacres School, Takeley. All are welcome to attend.
