COLCHESTER AREA CONFERENCE 2019, on Saturday 26th January 2019 9.30 am – 3.30 pm in St. John’s Church, St. John’s Close, Colchester CO4 0HP. “Setting God’s People Free - Thriving in the Fullness of Life”
Our keynote speaker is Nick Shepherd, Programme Director for Setting God’s People Free. Setting God’s People Free is a Church of England initiative seeking to build up the whole people of God, with a confident faith and vision for the Kingdom of God, which is lived out in homes, schools, communities and places of work.
St. John’s is in north Colchester, off the Ipswich Road. Directions are available:
Doors open at 9.15am and hot drinks will be served from 9.30 and at lunchtime. Do bring a re-usable cup if you can, and your own lunch.
There will be a choice of workshops in the afternoon:
A. Thriving through creativity: writing
B. Thriving through creativity: art
C. Thriving through exercise and activity

TASTER SESSION FOR LENT. Jesus says, “Come to me”, Wednesday 30th January, 7.30pm-9.30pm in St Mary’s. An opportunity for us as a Benefice to come together for food and fellowship and to listen to God and to each other. This will be a taster for similar evenings throughout Lent. See flier at the back of both churches for more details.

HELP NEEDED TO PREPARE CHRISTINGLES. Are you free on Saturday 2nd February at 9:30 am? Meet in St. Mary's Centre to put together Christingle kits, so that folks can make their own Christingles at our service on Sunday 3rd February at 10:30 am. If you are also able to stay and help count money from the Children's Society boxes, that would be most appreciated. Breakfast will be provided! CHILDREN'S SOCIETY BOXES. If you have a moneybox at home, please arrange to get it to me, or contact me to collect by Saturday 2nd February. If you would like a new box, please contact Ann Deakins, as above.

CONNECT 120 INVITES YOU TO: learn about some of the latest research on work with children, families and young people. Find out about how our local churches are growing through Connect 120 sponsored projects. Explore how we can all grow in new skills and get involved. Saturday 2nd February 2019, St John's Church, Stansted. Speak to Tara to book a place.

CONNECT 120. This week Connect 120 means: an assembly at Roseacres, a meeting about Health and Safety, cooking at Roseacres, an assembly at Birchanger Primary, an assembly at Magna Carta led by a volunteer, a meeting to examine a future possible community activity, lunch club at Birchanger Primary.

COFFEE, CAKE & CHATTER had another successful coffee morning & raised £270.50. We are now in a position to donate £600 to St Mary’s church & £600 to Faith in Action for their work among the desperately poor people in Malawi. Thank you to all those who helped to raise this amount.
