  • CONNECT 120 2nd Birthday Celebration. This afternoon at 4.30 pm at St John’s Church, Stansted CM24 8JP. Connect 120 would like to invite you to join with them to celebrate the 2nd Birthday of the project. Steve Kersys will be speaking to us and there will be a short act of worship as well as time to learn more about what Connect 120 and the churches have done together over the last year.

    CHILDREN’S CHURCH. Please note that Children’s Church will begin again on Sunday 15 September.

    HELP FOR THE HOMELESS. On Wednesday 18th September 7 pm we will welcome Rob Saggs from CHESS  (Churches Homeless Emergency Support Scheme) to talk about the valuable work that the charity does to support and rehabilitate the homeless in Essex. We, as a church, are hoping to work with CHESS on our Live Nativity this year to raise awareness of the plight of the homeless. All are welcome, 7 pm meet for refreshments in church with the talk starting at 7.30pm.

    WALTON ON THE NAZE WALK. The Friends have organised another quiz walk (approximately 3 miles) for Saturday 28th September and they would love you to join them. It starts at 10 am in Walton (expected finish 3 pm) However, transport from Dunmow is available so please let us know if you wish to come along. Sponsor forms are available or a minimum donation of £10 for the Chair Fund is required. If you can’t make it please sponsor someone else.     CALLING ALL ARTISTS. To raise funds for more flexible seating we are holding an Art Exhibition on Saturday 19 October 10 am – 5 pm. Preview evening is Friday 18 October 6-8 pm. Entry fee is £5 for up to 3 pictures or photographs 15% of sales to be donated to the Chair Fund. This is an open exhibition and we welcome all submissions.     KNITTING TOYS FOR SANTA’S GROTTO. Knit and Natter have asked for a little help to provide knitted toys for Santa’s Grotto in Great Dunmow this Christmas. If you enjoy knitting and would like to help, please pick up a pattern and instructions at the back of the church or ask Sarah (Church Administrator) to email a copy. Any help would be much appreciated. Please bring any completed toys to Sarah in the church office. Many thanks, Craft Cafe.

    BABY STUFF BRAINTREE. This is a new charity whose purpose is to provide not only free clothing for 0-5 year olds but also baby and child equipment to those who are in need of this service in Essex. Parents and carers are welcome to drop into one of our sessions on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of the Month From 9.30 - 11.30 am at The Carousel Family Hub, Chapel Hill, Braintree CM7 3QZ (near Braintree Village). We rely on the generosity of others for donations. If you wish to donate please check the Baby Stuff Braintree Facebook page for our current wish list.     CONNECT 120. This week Connect 120 means: knitting after school at Magna Carta Primary, an assembly at Magna Carta led by Maureen Best, Tara attending an accredited course on Successful Recruitment of Volunteers and all the usual planning activities.
