O Almighty God, who hast knit together thine elect in one communion and fellowship, in the mystical body of thy Son Christ our Lord: Grant us grace so to follow thy blessed Saints in all virtuous and godly living, that we may come to those unspeakable joys, which thou hast prepared for them that unfeignedly love thee; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

  • RUTH AND LEA’S DIOCESAN TRIP TO OUR LINK DIOCESES IN KENYA. You can find out more about their trip and our partner dioceses at the next Deanery Synod at St Mary’s, on Tuesday 20th November at 7.30pm. If you are able to help with refreshments for this evening, please let Sarah know. Thank you!

LOVE ST MARY’S WORK PARTY. Your Churchwardens are organising a work party for Saturday 24th  November from 9.30am for a few hours. The finance team will be sorting through the archive boxes recovered from the Guild Chapel. Hopefully, the weather will be kind for an autumn tidying of leaves and weeds etc. in the churchyard, car park and around the SMC. We also hope to get the sheds sorted. Everyone welcome – please bring gardening gloves and, if possible, some gardening tools. Refreshments arranged! Hope to see you there – Catherine & Nigel.

CONNECT 120. This week, Connect 120 means: assembly at Dunmow St Mary's, cooking at Roseacres, meeting with line manager, assembly at Magna Carta, lunch club at Birchanger, Year 1 lessons on Jesus at Gt Dunmow Primary, a slot in the service at Stebbing.

CRIB SERVICE PLANNING! Over the past few years we have welcomed hundreds of people to our Crib Service at St Mary’s on Christmas Eve. Recently, it has been hard to ensure that everybody who attends can be kept both safe and comfortable. So, we have made the decision to hold two Crib Services at St Mary’s on Christmas Eve: one at 2pm and another at 4pm. We would welcome as much support as possible for these services, not least to welcome people, to be on duty in our car park and to set up and clear up afterwards. If you are able to help out in any way, please sign up on the sheets at the back of St Mary’s. Thank you!

WINE FOR LIVE NATIVITY. It is that time again when we start to gather wine for mulling for the Live Nativity and we would really appreciate your donations. Please can you bring your bottles/boxes to church and leave them in either the vestry or with Sarah in the Parish Office. Many thanks, your generosity is appreciated.

MESSAGE FROM BRAINTREE FOODBANK. Thank you so much for your support. Our clients are very grateful. We have seen increased levels of need during the spring and summer this year and our warehouse stocks are lower than they have ever been in the six years we have been open. We urgently need:
    • Fruit juice (1lt Longlife)
    • Longlife Milk
    • Cereal bars
    • Instant mash
    • Sponge puddings
    • Tinned tomatoes
    • Tinned Rice puddings
    • Packet soups
    • Custard – packets that can be made with boiling water
    • Chocolate bars, e.g. Kit Kat, Penguins etc.
    • Biscuits
    • Tinned fish
    • Tinned fruit
    • Sugar (500g bags please)*
    • Cold meats (tinned)
    • Coffee (small jars please)*
    • Cereal (700g please)*
    • Pasta sauce
    • Tinned spaghetti
    • Jam
    • Packet rice
Please no baked beans as that is one of the few items of where we have very full stocks.

Also needed are: Toiletries, e.g. toothbrushes, tooth paste, deodorant, shampoo, toilet rolls and pet food.

*Please note: We often ask for small packs – Larger packs do not fit in our boxes and make it difficult for our clients to carry home. Also, we are unable (for hygiene reasons) to split larger sizes or catering packs.

PLEASE NOTE: We are grateful for your donations to the Braintree Area foodbank. However, we can only accept donations of freshly-bought unopened and undamaged goods which are still well within their “use by” date (no less than 6 months). We cannot use items which do not meet these requirements, and the donation is wasted. Thank you.
