General News for both parishes (unless stated)

AN INFORMAL SERVICE FOR A SUMMER SUNDAY EVENING. TODAY, Sunday August 3rd, 6.00pm in the quiet open spaces of the churchyard at St Andrew's Barnston. Continuing our series of special services for the first Sunday evening of the month.

PLEASE REMEMBER DEREK & JANET THOMASON and family who sadly have the funeral of two of their grandsons on Friday 8th August in Potton, Bedfordshire. Please pray for them at this sad time.

THANKS to all who helped make last Wednesdsay's Dunmow Christian Care Garden Party such a success!

WANTED TOYS (especially), TEDDIES & BOOKS for additional Church Toy Bags for our younger members to play with during services. Please speak to Jo Hargrave Tel: 872995 or drop items round to 14 Venmore Drive, Dunmow. Thank you.

'WATER OF LIFE' Churches Together in Dunmow Summer Holiday Club for children aged 5-11. Tuesday 12th August and Thursday 14th August. 9.30-12.00 at the URC Church, New Street. Entrance Fee: £1.50 per morning per child. Do you have or know children/grandchildren who would like to come? Registration forms available from Jo Hargrave (872995).

CAKE-MAKING. The marathon has started! The Countess of Warwick Show (August 24th & 25th) is now only 3 weeks away. St Mary's is, again, providing the Cake Stall combined with refreshments. As we discovered last year, mountains of cakes can be moved! However, a mountain of cakes takes a lot of baking! An early start will help. Bake now … freeze for later … and be ready for the summer rush. Further advice and information is available from Vera Davies.

David's on his Bike - and Eva's out on her feet! On Saturday 13th September David Rose will be cycling for all he's worth, and Eva Percival will be hot-footing it between churches, in the Friends of Essex Churches Ride & Stride fundraising event. Half the money raised remains in our church funds. David and Eva will welcome company on the journeys; additional walkers to visit local churches; and sponsors for the Event. All details are on the two church Noticeboards.
