Youth Group

The group meets each week and averages ten to twelve members and they are a very lively and enthusiastic group.  We endeavour to organise the evening so that they receive games, discussions and prayer.  Some members have led the discussions and have proved to be mature in their understanding of Christian morals and scripture.

We spent a weekend last May at St Mark's College, Saffron Walden which proved to be very popular and the groups took part in bible study, prayer and sports activities organised by the college staff - for example, trampoline, volleyball and archery.  They also listened to presentations by locally-run charities.

A trip to Cambridge to listen to the Christian group 'Delirious?' was good and recently the girl group 'Collective' performed at the Helena Romanes School which was an excellent evening.  Unfortunately due to the snow and half-term, numbers were sadly down but those who came thoroughly enjoyed the music and Christian message that came through loud and clear.

The Unlock walk, eight miles around London, was offered to them supported by the Friends of St Mary's and several took part, raising approx £300 between them which went towards the upkeep of London Churches.  We are planning to walk again this April.  A summer barbecue was held at Bigods Farm and a trip to Dunmow pantomime were also well-supported.

We would welcome any member of the congregation to come and tell us 'what you do in the church': many of the youth are unaware of what goes on and it would be nice to give them a taster and perhaps encourage them to attend a service.  We have had a talk and demonstration from the bell ringers and a couple are keen to learn more.
