Nursery

Saint Mary's Church Nursery opened in September 1997 and at the time Alison Brown and I thought that we would open for six months and "see how it goes"!

We have had a few changes of staff during the past year but we continue to work as a team. Staff have continued to update their knowledge by attending courses on first aid, child protection and language matters during the year. One member is currently studying for the Diploma in Pre School Practice.

In connection with our topics we have been to the Church, two different types of farms, the library and the market. We have also visited and the churchyard and recently had an Easter egg hunt in the churchyard.

Last summer Nursery staff, children and parents went to Walton beach. This is a good opportunity for staff, parents and children to get together. Thanks, once again, to Nicola for the use of her beach hut.

Our nativity play last December was "Mary's Knitting" and, despite being beset with illnesses, it went well. The children coped very well with last minute changes of parts.

Once again we are grateful for the continued support of the PCC.and the Management Committee. As many people will know, Nursery is in the process of obtaining its own Charity status. Belinda Booth has led us through a large amount of paperwork and meetings to ensure that the Nursery will remain a part of the Church but with separate charity status. Now the paperwork is currently with the Charity Commissioners and we await their response.

We pray that God will continue to watch over the children and staff at nursery and that with His help and love we will continue to do His work.
